Me and Martha

Ok, so I've tried really hard this wedding season to separate my work and home life (as if there is a possible separation) . . . my daughter can practically arrange flowers at this point she's seen them done so often. But I digress. Anyway, so those of you who don't also follow The Dazzling Details blog OR our super-cool new Behind-the-Scenes facebook page don't get to hear much about how our business is doing. But today we got news - HUGE news. News that warrants writing about it on a personal blog and sharing it with family and friends!

We found out today that one of our October weddings is going to be featured in the summer 2010 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings!!! Woo hoo! Definitely a milestone for a company like ours!

Yipee!!!

Soph and the TP

Have I ever posted this photo? It is one of my faves from our trip to San Francisco earlier this year. I realize it has nothing to do with anything relevant right now, but I was busy at work looking for certain wedding photos in order to prepare for a meeting, and this sweet little innocent-looking-but-definitely-not-innocent face just kept staring up at me from the thumbnail, so I decided to share it with you!

Life is Good.

The weather has changed. Blankets are necessary at night. Fans are turned to low rather than their super-as-fast-as-you-can setting in the summertime. The sky is blue. The birds are singing. The sweat is gone. Aaaaah, life is good.

It's Official

I think I'm officially a mom. I mean, I know I am, have been for a whopping 18 months. (The ongoing sleepless nights are definitely my proof of that.) But today I realized that I had taken an emotional leap. My refrigerator is full of colorful scribbles held up by animal magnets. The art is crooked, and the animal heads have been lost (or thrown over the side of the balcony) so I now mostly have the rear-ends of animals in view. And I don't mind. I think that is a sign that I've passed to the other side of mom-hood. My interpretation of that simply means that I've given up trying to preserve any morsel of sanity, personal space and order that once may have existed in my home. Aaah. The joys of motherhood.

The Buzz Around Town

October 30th wore us out with a fabulous wedding (if I do say so myself), but not nearly enough to keep us from getting Sophia all dressed up for a night of Trick-or-Treating on the town!

Michelle and I finished up Soph's costume earlier in the week, and we were just crossing our fingers that she wouldn't notice she was wearing one at all! Sophia doesn't like anything odd touching her - we can't cover her with a blanket, she refuses to wear socks and any wierd, pokey, not-natural clothing item can just take a hike! So the idea of putting her in wings, head boppers and a stinger would have sent her over the edge! Luckily, knowing my daughter, we made sure we were prepared from the start and sewed really simple small wings on the back of her onesie, prepared a velcro-on stinger that could be stuck to her booty when she was distracted and the boppers (Um, I call them boppers, but they were antennas), went on to pipe cleaners and stuck into her normal pigtail holders!

We were all set with our basket of candy to give (after all, you gotta give back!) and off we went to meet a few friends and their tykes on the Malecon. A few photos from the night!

Super Sunday

Daylight Savings changed our clocks back an hour late last night causing for a very very early a.m. wakeup call today!

Sophia, who has in the past two weeks decided that anytime between 5:30 and 6:30 is a great time to begin the new day, stuck to her schedule and woke up chanting "Moh-nin" (Morning!) at 5:30 am . . . except it was actually 4:30 am . . . and we had a big wedding on Saturday resulting in a 2 a.m. bedtime. Thus the day began.

Sooo taking advantage of all the extra hours in the day, we got a few things done!

Sophia took to coloring as she has discovered she is an artist-waiting-to-happen.

Pablo, with Soph's very helpful assistance, converted her crib into a day bed following a slight incident last week in which we heard a big THUD from her room and discovered she can now crawl out of her crib. We'll see how the first night in a new bed goes!

And while the construction was going on in Soph's room, Michelle and I set to work creating Sophia's Halloween costume! Can you possibly imagine what she is going to be?

(Now we just need to work on the buzzzzzz.)

Happy Sunday!
